Bennie Atkinson knows lodge operations firsthand. As the former general manager of Prairie Wildlife, an Orvis-endorsed lodge in West Point, Mississippi, he understands how much goes into a good trip—from the guides and dogs in the field to the food, accommodations, and welcome guests receive when they return.
Bennie has a thorough understanding of how the Orvis Endorsed Program works and what it means for lodges, guides, and outfitters. He helps operators embrace the program’s standards and take full advantage of the opportunities that come with an Orvis endorsement. His established relationships with industry partners, including Federal, Shooting Sportsman, and Banded, also help operators explore partnerships that support their businesses and create opportunities for growth.
As Director of Business Development at Vertical Video LLC in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Bennie provides lodge consulting and management support. He works with owners and operators on the everyday challenges of running a lodge, supporting their staff, and taking care of guests. Through Vertical, he also helps businesses with marketing, websites, and content that reflect the experience they offer.
His affiliations with Quail Forever and Pheasants Forever reflect his interest in habitat conservation and the future of upland hunting. He also works with nonprofit organizations to help individuals with disabilities and their families enjoy the outdoors. Away from work, Bennie enjoys being in the field with his German shorthaired pointers, hunting upland game, and spending time with his grandchildren.
